Stephan Zouras, LLP is extremely proud of two of our outstanding young trial lawyers, Haley R. Jenkins and Anna M. Ceragioli, who in one of the first in-person jury trials for unpaid wages since the onset of COVID pandemic, secured an unpaid wage verdict for their client Mike Meadows, a longtime hourly-paid employee of NCR Corporation.
The verdict, reached the afternoon of May 21, 2021, comes after five years of contentious litigation and a heated three-day jury trial before United States District Court Judge Manish S. Shah. Overcoming a formidable defense, which included testimony from six corporate witnesses, Haley and Anna were able to prove that NCR willfully failed to pay Mike for more than 1,500 hours of compensable work in direct violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Illinois Minimum Wage Law.
Mike’s monetary damages, which include liquidated (double) damages and interest, along with reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs, will be assessed in post-trial proceedings.
The hard work, diligence and thorough preparation exhibited by Haley and Anna demonstrate our firm’s and their own tireless commitment to leveling the playing field against corporate injustice, abuse and greed.
The case is Meadows v. NCR Corporation, 16-cv-6221 (N.D.Ill)
