On April 10, 2012, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland granted Plaintiffs’ motion and conditionally certified a collective class of technicians working for DirectSat out of their Waldorf, Maryland and Beltsville, Maryland warehouses.
Plaintiffs are pursuing unpaid wages and other damages based on allegations that Defendant failed to pay an overtime premium for all hours worked over 40 hours per week in violation of state and federal law.
On September 18, 2014 the United States District Court for the District of Maryland sided with Plaintiffs and denied Direct Sat USA’s motion to decertify. As a result of the court’s ruling, Plaintiffs’ claims will proceed as a collective action on behalf of all opt-in Plaintiffs.
In 2016, both parties agreed to settlement and over 25 technicians received compensation.
